Nice to virtually meet you! Here's what you need to know about me.

Sklar Family

My wife, son, and I live in Austin, Texas where I have run my own advertising and branding agency since January 2010 in addition to several startups in the digital space, including one of the first e-commerce stores back in 1994, which was reported in “Time” magazine.

In between starting my own successful businesses, I was the Regional CEO and Executive Creative Director of the very first and #1 ranked digital ad agency in Asia (revenue, blue-chip clients, consistent wins of pitches, awards, reputation). On three separate occasions I was the Global Creative Director / Digital Chief Creative Officer for the largest advertising company in the world, WPP. The last time was on the $4.5 billion global Dell account as agency of record.

I believe my experiences as an entrepreneur, business leader, award-winning innovator, and manager, along with working in operations on the ground in places such as Israel, Indonesia, Singapore, NYC, and Austin are what make me an effective coach, mentor, and someone who can listen empathetically to what others have been going through in corporate life and help them determine if business ownership is for them.

My clients have included: Accenture, Cisco, Coca-Cola, Dell, Discovery Channel, Dow Corning, EMC, General Motors, HP, Intercontinental Hotel Group, Heineken, Hyundai, Interwoven, J&J, J Records, Kraft, Microsoft, Millennium Hotels, MTV, Nokia, P&G, Pfizer, Polycom, SilkAir, Singapore Airlines, Sony- Ericsson, Starwood Hotels, Symantec, the US Department of Defense, Visa, VMware, and many others.

Work highlights.

  • Most awarded Digital Creative Director in Asia, “Ad Age International”
  • Founded one of the first fully virtual ad agencies in the world (2010-Present)
  • Digital marketing columnist (2000-Present)
  • Have appeared as an expert guest on CNBC, CNN and in “The Wall Street Journal”
  • Authored a top selling book on Amazon about the ad industry (#2 for 3 years)
  • One of the featured subjects in “The BBS Documentary” by Jason Scott about the creators/operators of the pre-Web Bulletin Board Systems.

My coaching practice.

I help people tired of or burned out by their jobs explore alternative career options; whether they still want to keep their position and open something on the side or completely escape battered career syndrome as I did. After 20+ years, I stopped working as a global executive in a multi-billion dollar ad agency group and opened up my own marketing firm a decade ago, never looking back.

I don’t charge for the service of helping my clients educate themselves about how to become entrepreneurs. My only goal is to take them on a journey of discovery where they determine if they should keep doing what they’ve been doing, go back to school, or go out on their own.

Coaching defined:
Empowering someone to become intellectually engaged in a future result that is good for them and getting them to emotionally commit to take action to achieve that result.

“Josh worked with me for five weeks, and he was everything he says he is. He was a coach that came alongside me when I had many questions about my job/income future. Josh led me through a thoughtful process that allowed me to select the future that fits my lifestyle and income goals.

In the end, I did not choose a path that earned Josh a commission, but I think he was genuinely pleased to assist me. I will recommend that others facing an employment/income crossroads talk to Josh.”

MARK KELLEY, Senior Pastor for Living Hope Church

Let’s start the discovery process with a free consultation. My goal is to help you discover what your future has in store, and I can’t wait to get started.
